Behind the quintessentially English Georgian exterior antique dealers Paul and Martin East Sussex home is filled with eclectic curiosities and antique treasures. The core of the house dates back to the 11th century, other bits have been added over the centuries. It was a vicarage at one point and then a guesthouse between the wars. On first quick impression the drawing room is enough to convince you that the whole house is liberally laced with much loved treasures assembled in a whimsical not overly serious way. Marble busts refreshingly may double up as real hat stands when required; a Georgian painting of an eighteenth century English beauty could be lit by a retro 1950’s lamp or sat next to wall-mounted antlers or nineteenth century plaster casts which jostle for space on the staircase wall.
